Full Moon Women Tea Gathering

On Tuesday, 22 March 2016, 8pm, we will have our first Full Moon Women Tea Gathering. Not only it's the full moon, which signifies completion and is an ideal time for letting go of things that you no longer need. It is also going to be a Full Lunar Eclipse too, in the sign of Libra. A Powerful Combination, the one that brings with it the potential for great illumination.

On such night there is a strong connection with night sky and the ability to prophecy. This Lunar eclipse brings an aura of peace and tranquility, and carries a very potent balancing energy.

At every full moon, the whole world is illuminated by the essence of the Great Feminine. This is an great time to come together as sisters in authentic heart, to celebrate our gratitude and abundance, and to share the blessings of the sacred herbs and flowers of the Earth.

So let us share a taste of enchanted tea in ceremony, come open your heart, and let the Moon inspire you... We will be boiling water in a clay kettle on live fire, having all five elements in place. We will chant mantras. We will set intentions, and then we will let them go into the universe, relaxing into knowing that it is all we need to do. Set the intention and soften into non action, knowing it will be done.

We will be brewing Puerh Tea. Firstly, large leaves from ancient puerh trees right in the teapot on fire. And then a 2002 Puerh Tea from 1,200 year old trees. It will create a powerful connection to the sky, to the nature, to the earth, and most importantly to ourselves, and into the flow of life.

Please note, that because this is a private residence places are limited.

It is donation based, minimum suggested donation £20, and there is an RSVP/wait list in place, so you are encouraged to receive your space by making a suggested contribution. The seating is done on the floor and we have plenty of cushions. Comfortable clothing is recommended. After tea we will share some healthy snacks. And you will take a Tea bag with tea samples and gifts with you home!

Teanamu - an unusual tea house in LondonTeanamu - необычная чайная в Лондоне

There is a wonderful tea house in Portobello, a real gem for all tea lovers. I only discovered it recently, but it is already my favourite, as you won't find anything like this anywhere else in London. Pei, the teashop's chinese owner, opened it right in the living room of his own house! Can you imagine? I don't now for sure, but I guess, he works during the week somewhere else, and then creates this magical space in his house at weekends - serving tea and cooking delicious food for his guests. All to an authentic gu zheng music. It's best if you book a table in advance, as places go quickly - Teanamu is only open for six hours a day two days a week. And it has only a small number of tables - 4 or 5. But I guess this is what makes it so nice and cosy - small size, and an atmosphere of a welcoming home, where you spend time with friends.

We sat at the fireplace and got served our tea by Pei himself, who also talked to us about teas we ordered.

I had a WuYi rock tea - not the usual one, but the less roasted variety, which still had the notes of traditional WuYi Rock teas. And my mum ordered Japanese Steamed Sencha tea, which was amazing, really creamy, really fresh.

You are probably thinking - what are these colourful cards on the table? These are the Tea Menu Cards - separate card for each tea!

Pei also told us about teapots and how to hold them when pouring teas.

My three year old son Sasha, who usually is not very keen on teas, suddenly got a taste for my WuYI rock tea and demanded lots of cups! Here he is carefully drinking it… and enjoying himself I believe! It was a tough visit for us as three year old boys can't really sit still, so we had a "monkey" jumping on our heads and back while we were trying to enjoy tea - not an easy task! We managed - almost. But without much concentration. Yet, the whole experience was amazing anyway!

Pei cooks himself - simple dishes, like lotus leaf rice parcel or dim sum, some small sandwiches and a nice number of different sweets. The portions were small but actually enough, and everything was VERY tasty!!! Here he is in the open-plan kitchen - cooking:

And here is the actual house in Portobello!!! I love the whole idea - hidden (well not so hidden) house, which looks like any other house on that street. Without any displays or signs. You really need to know about it to come here. And know exactly where you will be going, otherwise it's easy to get lost. It's the house in the centre:

Я открыла её совсем недавно, но она сразу же прочно заняла первые позиции в моем списке любимых мест. Во всяком случае, других таких мест в Лондоне нет (по крайней мере тех, о которых я знаю, а если вы знаете ещё - просветите меня пожалуйста).

Открыл эту чайную китаец по имени Пей. И как вы думаете, где? В гостиной собственного дома! Да, да. Именно там, вам не послышалось. И конечно, в Китае такие вещи происходят сплошь и рядом, а вот претворить это в реальность в Англии уже труднее, и поэтому здесь это - редкость. Причем, чайная работает только по выходным. Поэтому я думаю, что Пей ещё и работает где-то среди недели, а на выходных создает у себя чайное пространство - наливая чай и создавая кулинарные вкусности для гостей. И всё это под традиционную китайскую гужэн музыку.

Самое лучшее - это заказать столик заранее, на сайте, так как места уходят очень быстро. И неудивительно - ведь чайная работает только два дня в неделю, с 12-6 вечера. Да и столиков там совсем немного - пять или шесть. Но наверное это и создаёт такой волшебный уют и тепло в чайной - возникает ощущение, что ты где-то в доме у друзей, в их гостиной, а не в безликой чайной.

Нас посадили возле небольшого, весело потрескивающего камина, и Пей сам нам разлил чай по пиалкам, и рассказал чуть-чуть о чаях.

Я выбрала Уишаньский улун - не самый распространенный, меньшей обжарки (или, как любят говорить чайные любители, менее отхумпеенный), но название забыла!!! И забыла записать! Но ничего. Главное, что он был очень вкусный, с теми же прекрасными нотками Уишаньских улунов. А моя мама заказала Японскую Пропаренную Сеньчу - жирненькую, кремовую… Очень вкусную!!

Глядя на первую фотографию, вы наверное заинтересовались - а что же за яркие картонки лежат там на столе? А это карточки чайного меню! По чаю на каждую карточку! Классно, правда?

Пей также рассказал о чайничках, и как их лучше держать, когда наливаешь чай:

Мой трёхлетний Сашка, который не очень то расположен к чаям, вдруг проникся моим уишаньским улуном, и выпил несметное количество пиалок. Отбирая их конечно у меня. Вот это он пьет его - и очень наслаждается… Я надеюсь! Для нас конечно этот визит в чайную стал настоящим испытанием - всё-таки трёхлетние активные мальчики не могут сидеть тихо и спокойно, и наша маленькая "обезьянка" прыгала у нас по головам и спинам, пока мы пытались донести пиалку до губ, чтобы насладиться божественным вкусом и ароматом выбранного нами напитка.. И скажу честно, наши попытки не всегда были успешными. Часто чай проливался на пол так и не достигнув наших уст, что очень веселило Сашку, и не очень - нас. И думаю Пей тоже не был в восторге. Ведь все люди как люди - тихо, спокойно пили чай, не свинячили. А с нашего столика доносился детский визг, ну и намусорили мы там изрядно. Поэтому, если вдруг на сайте Teanamu вдруг появится дисклеймер, что с детьми посетители не приветствуются, не обижайтесь..

Пей сам готовит еду - очень вкусную. В нашем меню была рисовая кашка завернутая в листья лотуса, немного дим самов, несколько необычных бутербродиков, и небольшое количество разнообразных сладостей. Порции были маленькие, но их было достаточно.. И очень вкусно!!!

А вот и сам домик на Портобелло! Мне очень нравится сама концепция этого чайного домика - выглядит, как самый обычный жилой дом. Без вывесок, без знаков. Его легко можно пройти мимо, и не заметить. То есть нужно точно знать куда идешь, чтобы его найти. Иначе можно потеряться.
